The Los Alamos Computer Science Institute (LACSI) conducts research in computer science issues relevant to the Department of Energy's Accelerated Strategic Computing Iniative (ASCI) program. LACSI consists of Computer Science departments at universities, companies, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The institute's goal is to enhance computer science while supporting the US Department of Energy's ASCI.

The University of Tennessee has been a participating member of the LACSI community of institutions since LACSI's inception in 1998. The Innovative Computing Laboratory (ICL) of UT's Computer Science department is the research arm of the UT LACSI effort. This site contains information specific to the University of Tennessee's contribution to the institute.
