My problem about running MAGMA on Intel MIC

Post by fengfeng » Wed May 21, 2014 1:21 am

Hi,

I recently download the MAGMA MIC 1.1 and want to run some tests and compare it with MKL. I have compiled it sucessfully but when I run the test cases under "/magma/magmamic-1.1.0/testing", it failed.

These are the failure information. I don't know how to fix this. Would you help me ?

$ ./testing_dpotrf
scif_connect failed with error 111 retrying
scif_connect failed with error 111 retrying
^C
$ ./testing_dpotrf_mic
scif_connect failed with error 111 retrying
scif_connect failed with error 111 retrying
scif_connect failed with error 111 retrying
^C

Please see INSTRUCTIONS_to_run.txt
Basically, you have to copy the MAGMA server to the MIC and run it there, before you run the application on the host. This process will probably be streamlined in future versions.

Success! Thx. I have another question.

The node has 3MIC. But I want to run it on only 1 MIC card. How can I do this?

I have to copy magma_mic_server to all the MIC cards, but I want to use only 1 MIC.

In the currently released code, I think this would require modifying the magma_init function to set num_nodes = 1, instead of scif_get_nodeIDs, in interface_mic/interface.cpp.

This will change in future releases.
