PAPI_lock

I want to know if i can use more than PAPI_USER1/2_LOCK I means PAPI_USER3_LOCK,PAPI_USER4_LOCK ....I have read two thread example lock_pthread.c I want to know if i had more than 2 thread like 4 then I should use lock & unlock of these 2 mutex in a sequential manner as the example has done inorder to get independant result of these 4 thread.
