I want a configuration like this

with bin, lib, shared and include directories. However, when I
run
./configure
with option like
--bindir=/home/James/Desktop/papi-4.1.1/bin
--libdir=/home/James/Desktop/papi-4.1.1/lib
No subdirectory(s) is created. Thus I wonder what I am doing wrong.
I also want the papi-4.1.1 main
directory to be as such:
/home/James/Desktop/papi-4.1.1/
What am i doing wwrong?
