USING ACML(AMD CORE MATH LIB) ON INTEL CPUs

Postby ruilinchu » Wed Dec 05, 2007 7:28 am

Hi everybody, I just found that the ACML contains blas and lapack and also fft,
this library is optimized for AMD cores for fast performance, which are 64bit processors.
My computor has two Intel Pentium 4 processors, which support 64 bit, both 3.2GHz (physical address 36 bit and vitual 40bit), it is the so called x86_64 platform. Actually I'm already using a x86_64 Ubuntu OS on it.

My question is: will ACML perform fast on my processors?

The best is to try. We have observed that the Intel MKL library performs
well on AMD system. Maybe the reciprocal is true. Let us know.

ACML works out quite well on my intel cpus, but I haven't done any test about the performance speed.
