Conjugation when no explicit trans/conj parameter exists

Postby field » Sat Jul 14, 2007 3:25 pm

This question pertains mainly to the BLAS, specifically level-2 and level-3 routines.

Consider zgemm(). Options for transa and transb are no transposition, transposition, or conjugate transposition. What if I wanted to simply conjugate A or B without a transposition? Is this something I must do separately? I think a similar question could be asked of some of the matrix and vector arguments of some level-2 operations.

I've long suspected that the answer to the previous question is "yes, one must conjugate outside of the routine of interest" but I wanted to get an answer from the experts.

Thanks,
Field

Dear Field,

Your assumption is correct, conjugation on its own is not an option in either the Level 2 or Level 3 BLAS.

Best wishes,

Sven Hammarling.
