I'm confused. The LAPACK website Presentation section for version 3.4.0 says 'LAPACK is written in Fortran 90 and provides routines for solving systems....' but when I downloaded the tar file and unpacked the routines they look like F77 routines, not F90. Why does the Presentation section say 'Fortran 90'?

Whilst much of LAPACK looks very Fortran 77 like there are now some Fortran 90 features in the software and so LAPACK cannot be compiled with a pure Fortran 77 compiler.
Best wishes,
Sven Hammarling.
